Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan 2 is already one of the most-awaited films in the YRF Spy Universe, and the latest buzz surrounding the sequel has left fans excited. According to a fresh report, RRR star Jr NTR is likely to join the high-octane franchise, making the sequel even bigger in scale and star power.
Reportedly, Aditya Chopra is planning to take the South superstar’s character forward. According to Sacnilk, Jr NTR’s role will go well beyond a fleeting appearance. He will either step in as the parallel lead or as a menacing antagonist in the SRK starrer.
Pathaan 2 Officially Announced At Dubai Event
The announcement came during the actor’s recent visit to Dubai, where an unexpected reveal at a public event put an end to months of speculation around
the future of the blockbuster franchise. The confirmation emerged at a real estate launch in Dubai, where a tower bearing Shah Rukh Khan’s name was unveiled. During the event, the developer on stage announced that Pathaan 2 is in development. A video from the launch, widely shared by fan accounts online, captured the moment when the developer said, “Koi blockbuster movie hoti hai toh uska ek sequel hota hai, am I right? Like ‘Pathaan’. ‘Pathaan 2’ aa rahi hai. Toh koi movie aap dekho, toh uska sequel hoga.”
The statement quickly sent fans into a frenzy, especially with the timing of the news coinciding with Ranveer Singh’s action thriller Dhurandhar, which has opened to a massive Rs 200 crore at the box office. One fan shared the announcement clip and wrote, “ALL TIME GROSSER & the HIGHEST GROSSER from the Spy Universe to get a SEQUEL. #Pathaan2 likely to start next year after the release of Alia Bhatt’s ‘Alpha’.”
About the film other buzz
Meanwhile, industry reports suggest Pathaan 2 will go on floors next year and will be shot extensively in Chile. According to a Mid-Day report, discussions around filming in the country gained momentum during Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font’s recent visit to India. Filmmaker-actor Anshuman Jha, who was part of the meeting, shared, “There are concrete conversations of Pathaan 2 by Yash Raj Films and Lakadbaggha 3 being shot in Chile next year. I hope we help His Excellency’s vision of bringing the beauty of Chile to the world through our cinema.”
In terms of the larger franchise plan, reports indicate that Pathaan 2 will release ahead of the high-profile crossover Tiger vs Pathaan. An earlier Pinkvilla report suggested that the sequel will play a crucial role in setting up the clash between Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Salman Khan’s Tiger. Echoing this, a PeepingMoon report stated, “The sequel is designed not only to carry forward Pathaan’s story, but also to lay the groundwork for larger conflicts in upcoming instalments of YRF’s Spy Universe.”
Shah Rukh Khan’s work front
The actor will be next seen in King. Marflix Pictures and Red Chillies Entertainment revealed the title of their film, ‘KING’, in grand style on Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday, with an action-packed glimpse unveiled by director Siddharth Anand. The film promises to be a slick, high-octane action entertainer that aims to redefine style, charisma and thrills — and is touted to be Siddharth Anand’s ‘massiest’ film yet, taking his signature action storytelling to a whole new dimension. The KING title reveal felt like a celebration of Shah Rukh Khan’s legacy and a big treat for fans from director Siddharth Anand. Released as a birthday surprise for SRK lovers, the video showed King Khan stepping into the role with fierce intensity — a man whose name doesn’t just command respect, but sparks fear across borders. He says, “Sau deshon mein badnaam, duniya ne diya sirf ek hi naam” — ‘KING’.
