Sophie Devine once again successfully defended 9 runs in the final over of the match to help Gujarat Giants secure a narrow win by three runs over Delhi Capitals. In match No. 17 of WPL 2026, played at BCA
Stadium in Vadodara on Tuesday (January 27), Devine picked up four wickets for 37 runs in four overs for the Ashleigh Gardner-led side. Of her four wickets, two came in the 20th over of Delhi’s innings.
The win over Delhi Capitals has helped Gujarat Giants pip Mumbai Indians and take No. 2 position in the WPL 2026 points table. They have almost confirmed their place in the top three.
On the other hand, Delhi Capitals have inched closer to elimination now. They have six points to their credit from seven matches played so far.

Wicketkeeper-batter Beth Mooney scored 58 runs from 46 balls as an opener for Gujarat Giants on Tuesday against Delhi Capitals. Her first fifty of the ongoing season helped her extend her tally of runs to 191 in seven matches, and she now takes the No. 10 position in the list of batters with most runs in WPL 2026.
There was no change in the top-five batters list in WPL 2026 during the DC-GG match, but Lizelle Lee has now closed the gap with Smriti Mandhana by scoring 11 runs from 20 balls.
