Rakhi Sawant has received relief from a court in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, which cancelled the non-bailable warrant issued against her in a case linked to alleged abetment of suicide. The case dates back to 2010 and stems from remarks allegedly made on her reality show Rakhi Ka Insaaf. The warrant was issued on October 16 after the actress and television personality failed to appear for court hearings. Her lawyer subsequently sought its cancellation, citing an Allahabad High Court order that had stayed further proceedings in the case.
Rakhi Sawant gets relief in a suicide case
A court in Jhansi cancelled the non-bailable warrant against Rakhi Sawant on Thursday after her lawyer moved an application citing a stay order issued by the Allahabad High
Court, according to PTI. The case concerns the alleged abetment of suicide of a 24-year-old man. Advocate Ashu Singh, who represents the actor, said the warrant had been issued on October 16 by the court of the Civil Judge (Junior Division).
Rakhi’s defence team later filed an application seeking the withdrawal of the warrant, submitting a copy of the Allahabad High Court’s order staying further proceedings in the case, advocate Ashu Singh said. Acting on the High Court’s order, the Civil Judge (Junior Division) at the Fast Track Court cancelled the warrant, he added.
The cancellation of the warrant provides temporary relief to Rakhi, but it does not mean the case has been dismissed. The matter remains subject to further judicial proceedings, with the Allahabad High Court’s stay order continuing to be relevant.
Lakshman Ahirwar, a resident of Jhansi’s Prem Nagar area, had appeared on Rakhi Ka Insaaf with his wife to discuss their marital problems. During the episode, which reportedly aired in October 2010, Rakhi Sawant allegedly called him impotent while addressing the couple’s dispute. Following his death, Lakshman’s mother, Savitri, filed a complaint at the Prem Nagar police station, accusing the actress of using insulting and objectionable language against her son on the show. The family alleged that Lakshman went into depression after the episode and claimed that he later died after consuming alcohol. His death was reported as a suicide.
