Shah Rukh Khan paid a heartfelt tribute to Sunil Narine after the veteran spinner etched his name deeper into IPL history by becoming only the third bowler to reach 200 wickets in the tournament. The landmark came during Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) commanding seven-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday.
Taking to social media after the match, the KKR co-owner praised Narine’s immense contribution to the franchise over more than a decade.
“Sunil, my friend… here’s to 15 seasons… over 200 wickets… 3 titles and many more with the @KKRiders franchise around the globe!!! You are a magician and we love you like our own family. Big hug for today and always… Be healthy and keep smiling!” KKR co-owner SRK posted.

KKR Legend – Sunil Narine
Narine achieved the milestone during a controlled spell of 2/31, which included the important wicket of Ishan Kishan. In doing so, he became the first player in IPL history to claim 200 wickets while representing only one franchise. He is also the first overseas bowler to join the elite club alongside Yuzvendra Chahal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Sunrisers Hyderabad began aggressively after being sent in to bat. Travis Head smashed a rapid 61 off 28 deliveries, while Kishan contributed 42 as SRH raced to 71/1 inside the Powerplay. However, Kolkata’s spin attack gradually turned the match around.
Varun Chakravarthy played a key role with figures of 3/36, while Narine tightened the screws during the middle overs as SRH collapsed to 165 all out. Support also came from Kartik Tyagi, Cameron Green, Vaibhav Arora and Anukul Roy, all of whom chipped in with wickets.
Chasing 166, KKR comfortably reached the target thanks to a composed 59 from Angkrish Raghuvanshi and a 43-run contribution from captain Ajinkya Rahane. Finn Allen also provided early momentum with a brisk 29 off 13 balls.
Since joining KKR in 2012, Sunil Narine has been central to the franchise’s title-winning campaigns in 2012, 2014 and 2024. He has also earned multiple individual honours, including the MVP award twice and the Purple Cap in 2012, further cementing his legacy as one of the IPL’s greatest bowlers.
