The Indian U19 Cricket Team routed England U19 unit in the championship clash of the ICC U19 World Cup 2026 in Harare, Zimbabwe, on Friday, to add to their decorated trophy cabinet with a sixth crown. The Boys is blue posted a total of 411 riding on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s masterclass before wrapping up the title with a 100-run margin in a rout.
Manish Ojha, Sooryavanshi’s coach, expressed his delight with his ward’s showing in the historic accomplishment and dedicated the triumph to the nation.
“This is a proud moment for the whole of India, and many congratulations to the people of Bihar, as one of our own child has played exceptionally well today.”
India set England a titanic 412-run target, riding on to Sooryavanshi’s incredible 175-run innings,
before dismissing the young Englishmen for 311, securing a 100-run victory.
“He scored 175 runs off 80 balls, hitting 15 sixes and 15 fours. This is an exceptional performance. The Indian team has scored 410 runs, which is an unattainable target.”
Ojha also noted the stranglehold the unit held throughout the tournament with resounding win against teams from around the globe in what will go down as yet another successful chapter in the storied books of Indian cricket.
Sooryavanshi’s knock was the highest individual score by an Indian batter in the junior tournament and helped him finish the campaign with a whooping 439 runs in 7 games.
Skipper Ayush Mhatre supported Sooryavanshi with a quality half-century, and joins an illustrious list, including the legendary Virat Kohli, Mohamed Kaif, Unmukth Chand, Yash Dhull and Pritvi Shaw to lead the U19 team to success in the spectacle.
Ambarish RS picked up a three-fer in the finals while Deepesh Devendran and Kanishk Chouhan removed a couple of wickets each to halt the English chase well short of the mark in a decimation job.
