The three-match India-New Zealand one-day international series is finely poised at 1-1, and all eyes are on the decisive third ODI in Indore.
While the on-field action will determine the series winner, off-field preparations by Team India have also grabbed attention, particularly regarding player safety due to concerns over water quality in the city.
Indore, often lauded as India’s cleanest city, recently faced scrutiny after water contamination incidents in parts of the city saw multiple deaths, raising alarms among residents and authorities.
In light of this, the Indian cricket team is taking no chances during their stay.
Special Machine!
As per multiple reports, India’s ODI captain Shubman Gill has brought with him a high-end water purification machine worth
nearly Rs. 3 Lakh.
This specialised device is designed to re-purify water that has already been treated through RO systems or even packaged bottled water. The machine has reportedly been installed in Gill’s room at the five-star hotel where the team is staying.
Sources mentioned in the reports from NDTV and Dainik Bhaskar stated that the equipment provides an additional level of filtration beyond standard systems. However, hotel staff have not been given specific details about the machine’s technology or its daily use.
The Indian team’s media manager declined to comment on the matter and did not clarify whether this step was directly linked to the recent water contamination cases or part of the captain’s routine health precautions.
Both the hotel and the Holkar Stadium are said to have adequate arrangements for safe drinking water, including RO plants and sealed bottled water.
As for the on-field contest, Mohammed Siraj sounded positive about the team’s approach to the decider.
“The team environment is very good. There is strong input from the seniors. Wins and losses happen, but the atmosphere in the dressing room is very healthy, especially as we prepare for bigger tournaments,” he was quoted as saying to reporters at the pre-match press conference.
