UPSSSC Lekhpal Recruitment 2026 Begins Today, OBC Vacancies Increased

The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has issued a revised notification for the Revenue Lekhpal Recruitment 2026. This revised notification includes changes to the category-wise number of posts, raising expectations among candidates from several categories. Importantly, despite this change, the application process and eligibility criteria remain unchanged.

According to the revised notification, 717 posts have been increased for the OBC category, while 960 posts for the General category have been reduced. In total, 7,994 posts are to be filled under this recruitment drive. The new notification now includes 3,205 posts for the General category, 2,158 for the OBC category, 1,679 for the Scheduled Castes, 160 for the Scheduled Tribes,

and 792 for the Economically Weaker Section. This change was made to address candidate demand and social balance.

In the previous notification, 4,165 posts were reserved for the General category, 1,441 for OBCs, 1,446 for Scheduled Castes, 150 for Scheduled Tribes, and 792 for EWS. Following a demand from OBC category candidates for an increase in the number of posts, the Commission reviewed the category-wise positions and issued a revised notification.

UPSSSC Lekhpal Recruitment 2026 Application Process

The Commission has confirmed that there are no changes to the application process. Only candidates who have successfully passed the UP PET 2025 can apply for this recruitment. The online application process will begin today, December 29, 2025, and will continue until January 28, 2026. Candidates can apply by visiting the official website of UPSSSC – upsssc.gov.in.

UPSSSC Lekhpal Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

Candidates for the Revenue Accountant position will be selected based on a written examination and document verification. A merit list will be prepared based on performance in the written examination, after which the documents of the selected candidates will be verified. The Commission has also clarified that only those candidates who have qualified the UP PET 2025 will be eligible to participate in this recruitment process.

Following the release of the revised notification, candidates are advised to prepare carefully, considering the number of positions in their respective categories, and complete the application process in a timely manner. Since the number of positions has changed, the level of competition may also be affected. Therefore, strategic preparation will be the key to success.
