Ranbir Kapoor is making headlines as audiences can’t wait to see him play Maryada Purushottam Rama in Ramayana, the upcoming magnum opus by Nitesh Tiwari, which also stars Sai Pallavi and Ravi Dubey, among others. While the teaser of the film will drop in India on April 2, audiences in Los Angeles were luckier as they got to see a glimpse of the film a few days earlier. The teaser was launched at a grand event attended by Ranbir, who also spoke about playing the role and thanked the LA audience for their love.

At the launch, Ranbir Kapoor received a special gift from a fan, who is also a fashion designer. He presented Ranbir with a red,
customised bandhgala-style jacket featuring intricate threadwork inspired by the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. The outfit also had a detailed depiction of Lord Ram embroidered on the back. In a video going viral on social media, the fan can be seen shaking hands with Ranbir while gifting him the piece, saying it was inspired by the Ayodhya temple and that there couldn’t have been a better occasion to present it to him.
Ranbir, who essays Lord Ram in the film, looked visibly pleased. He was seen carefully examining the craftsmanship and later showing the jacket to members of his team, pointing out the detailed embroidery and design elements.
The jacket featured detailed embroidery of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir along the bottom, while the back had a full image of Lord Ram. The gold threadwork stood out against the red fabric, giving it a rich and traditional look.
Kapoor, who was last seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s blockbuster Animal, attended the LA event and, while thanking attendees for showering their love on the teaser, said, “Thanks for coming here. This is really a very special moment for me to come with our labour of love and to show it to you all. You guys are actually the absolute first people to ever see this, and we couldn’t be happier.”
While Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi will be seen as Goddess Sita. Yash will portray Ravana, while Sunny Deol and Ravi Dubey will play Hanuman and Lakshman, respectively. Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh will be seen as Mandodari and Surpanakha. Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha, and Indira Krishnan are also part of the project.
Ramayana Part I is slated for a theatrical release this Diwali, while the second chapter will release on Diwali 2027.
