In yet another Hindi-versus-Marathi incident in Maharashtra, a passenger and a ticket checker (TC) got into a heated argument over a language dispute aboard a local train in Mumbai.
According to preliminary information, the dispute initially began between a non-Marathi-speaking ticket checker and a passenger on an AC coach. The passenger is alleged to have demanded that the non-Marathi-speaking railway official communicate in the regional language. Soon after, another ticket checker, who knew the language, stepped in and started talking with the passenger.
The incident was caught on camera, which has surfaced on social media.
Senior railway officials said the matter has only recently come to their notice and that a detailed investigation was launched.
They added that the railways will take appropriate action after completing the probe.
