Mumbai, Apr 1 (PTI) MahaRERA on Wednesday said that 1,060 housing projects were cleared by the realty sector watchdog in March, leading up to the run-up to Gudi Padva, the Marathi New Year.
This included 486 projects which were issued registration numbers, corrections in 148 projects and extensions for 426 projects.
Usually, the realty sector witnesses increased sales around the New Year as it is considered auspicious. MahaRERA issues over 4,500 registration numbers per year.
Of the 1,060 projects which received approval, 211 were cleared on the eve of Gudi Padva by the MahaRERA officials by working around the clock, as per an official statement.
From a geographical perspective, 607 projects are from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, 321 are from Pune,
63 from Khandesh, 50 from Vidarbha and 14 from the Marathwada region, it said.
Among the districts, Pune leads with 286 projects, followed by Mumbai Suburban at 196 projects, Thane with 185 projects and Raigad with 110 projects, MahaRERA said. PTI AA MR
