Biocon founder Kiren Mazumdar-Shaw on Wednesday replied to the Karnataka Congress government, justifying the poor condition of roads in Bengaluru. Replying to the Karnataka ministers, Shaw stated that she is just asking for garbage clearance on the roads of Bengaluru city.
Taking to X, Shaw wrote, “All I am seeking is garbage clearance n road resurfacing which ought to be done by the GBA. Govt Ministers need to hold them responsible n accountable for shoddy and slow work. Here Govt n Citizens need to be on the same page.”

Biocon chief reignited the debate over Bengaluru’s infrastructure on Tuesday by publicly sharing a visiting overseas business executive’s critical comments on the city’s roads and garbage, prompting a response from the Karnataka government.
Responding to Shaw’s remarks, the Karnataka ministers acknowledged the problems and said fixing it would require some time. They also called for collective cooperation to make the city better.
Congress leader Priyank Kharge acknowledged that every developing city faces challenges, whether it is San Francisco or London or Bengaluru, and said overcoming it, addressing the needs of the people and attracting investments is important.
“It is the prime responsibility of the government, and we will do it.” Kharge defended the state government’s tolerance for criticism and said prominent figures put up such posts because the government views them as constructive criticism and responds positively.
