Akshay Kumar And Priyadarshan Eye Comedy Film After Bhooth Bangla And Haiwaan? Deets Inside

It took over a decade for Bollywood’s most favourite actor-director duo, Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan, to collaborate, but it looks like the two have decided not to wait this long to collaborate more often. Akshay and Priyadarshan, who have two projects, Bhooth Bangla and Haiwaan, together are reportedly exploring more ideas.

As per a source close to Variety India, Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan are aiming to reunite for a proper comedy film, with details kept under wraps. The two are discussing multiple ideas, and the update suggests that they will finalise one by August–September. One project that has been pitched is a sequel to the 2024 horror-comedy Bhoot Police, but there hasn’t been any confirmation on the same.

The report suggests that

the project will go on floors by February 2027. While Priyadarshan is currently busy promoting Bhooth Bangla, he is also giving final touches to his next collaboration with Akshay Kumar, Haiwaan, which also stars Saif Ali Khan. Priyadarshan is also expected to direct an out-and-out comedy featuring Pankaj Tripathi along with an ensemble cast.

Bhooth Bangla carries massive expectations as it marks the reunion of Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar after more than 15 years. Within hours of its trailer release, it sparked strong reactions on social media, with many fans praising the nostalgic vibe and comic timing. The film’s ensemble cast, which includes Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Asrani, has also raised hopes that the movie will deliver a mix of spooky moments and laugh-out-loud comedy. The movie is scheduled to release in theatres on April 16, 2026.

Produced by KVN Production and Thespian Films, Haiwaan is backed by Venkat K. Narayana and Shailaja Desai Fenn. The film is the Hindi remake of Priyadarshan’s 2016 Malayalam hit Oppam, which starred Mohanlal in the lead role.

Adding to the excitement, Mohanlal will also appear in a special cameo in the Hindi version. Priyadarshan had earlier shared a picture from the sets featuring Saif Ali Khan and Mohanlal. During a recent conversation with Screen, Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan were asked about the release of Haiwaan. Priyadarshan responded, “It will release around 90 days of this film (Bhooth Bangla).” Adding to that, Akshay Kumar said, “somewhere in August…”
