Anthropic To Restore Worldwide Access To Mythos 5 And Fable 5 After US Ends Export Controls

The Trump administration has lifted the restrictions on Anthropic’s models – Claude Mythos 5 and Fable 5, paving the way for the company to allow access to these state-of-the-art models to subscribers globally. While announcing the development, the company said it will begin ‘restoring access tomorrow’, and will share an update soon.

“We’ve received notice that the Department of Commerce has lifted export controls on Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5,” Anthropic wrote in the X post.

The US Department of Commerce ordered Anthropic to restrict its new models, Fable 5 and Mythos 5, a few days after the launch, citing ‘national security concerns’. The company was told to suspend all access “by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States,

including foreign national Anthropic employees.”

“The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Anthropic models will not be affected,” the company said in a statement.

The directive reportedly applied not only to customers but also to foreign-national employees working at Anthropic.
