England all-rounder Sam Curran will captain MI London (formerly Oval Invincibles) in the 2026 edition of The Hundred men’s competition. The 27-year-old fast-bowling all-rounder, who won the Player Of The Tournament
award in the 2022 T20 World Cup, was signed by MI London on Tuesday (January 13).
In a release shared by MI London on X, they stated, “MI London have signed up three of the best T20 players in England to lead the newly rebranded teams. Sam Curran has been retained and will captain MI London in the new era of The Hundred and will be joined by Surrey team-mate Will Jacks, another retention, at the reigning champions. Surrey’s Danni Wyatt-Hodge, one of England’s greatest ever T20 cricketers, is the first signing for the women’s team.”

Sam has played 317 T20 matches so far for over a dozen teams and has 5296 runs and 298 wickets to his credit. He has represented England in all three formats of the game and has made 64 appearances for the two-time T20 World Cup winners. In those 64 T20Is for the Three Lions, Sam has scored 450 runs and picked up 57 wickets.
Sam has played for Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, and in IPL 2026, he will represent Rajasthan Royals after joining them in a trade deal last year. Curran has experience of leading PBKS in the IPL, and he has also captained Desert Vipers in the ILT20. Under his leadership, Desert Vipers defeated MI Emirates earlier this month to win the fourth edition of ILT20.
Jacks, on the other hand, has played 240 T20 matches so far, including 29 T20Is for England. The 27-year-old right-handed batting all-rounder has scored 6120 runs in T20s in addition to dismissing 80 batters. In T20Is, he has 401 runs and 3 wickets to his credit. In the IPL, Jacks represents Mumbai Indians and has previously played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
MI London Chair Oli Slipper said, “This is a real statement of intent from our playing teams. In Sam and Will we have signed two of the best English white-ball cricketers there are. They know what it means to step out in front of home fans at the Kia Oval and win trophies for their supporters.”
“Danni is a fan favourite in south London with her performances for Surrey and England and has already tasted success at the Kia Oval. She’s been prolific in The Hundred and is one of the most exciting players in the game,” he added.
Akash Ambani, Team Owner, MI London, said, “MI London marks an exciting new chapter in taking the Mumbai Indians brand global and our journey in The Hundred. With world-class talent across the men’s and women’s teams – including Sam Curran, Will Jacks and Danni Wyatt-Hodge – and a strong connection to Surrey, MI London brings together elite cricket, local identity and MI’s winning culture. The ethos of excellence, consistency and success that defines the Mumbai Indians will continue to shape how we play and entertain fans in the UK and around the world.”
