Twisha Sharma Death Case: The family of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma, who died at her matrimonial home in Bhopal, strongly rejected allegations made by her mother-in-law and accused the latter of trying to “save herself” by defaming the deceased woman publicly.
Twisha was found hanging at her husband Samarth Singh’s house in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12, just months after their marriage in December 2025. Her family has accused her husband and in-laws of dowry harassment and murder.
Family Responds To Mental Health, Drug Claims
Twisha’s father Navnidhi Sharma responded to the allegations levelled by Twisha’s mother-in-law, Giribala Singh that Twisha had been undergoing psychiatric counselling, consumed “large quantities” of marijuana during pregnancy and showed withdrawal symptoms.

Sharma categorically rejected the claims as baseless and said that the in-laws were attempting to shift blame onto his daughter after her death.
“The culprit is simply trying to find ways to save herself. That is why she (Giribala Singh) is making different kinds of allegations. Because the girl is dead now, she thinks she can accuse her freely and shift the blame onto her. The girl died in their house. She was killed in their house. They should answer for that,” news agency PTI quoted Sharma as saying.

Sharma also criticised the retired judge for making public allegations against Twisha.
“As for these allegations, they should present them in court. Defaming a deceased girl publicly is itself a serious wrongdoing,” he said.
“And the fact that someone holding such a high judicial position is doing this is extremely shameful.”
Twisha’s father described his daughter as “dynamic, career-oriented and educated” and rejected claims about her mental health.
“Today they are calling it schizophrenia. I say, who could be more schizophrenic than you, that you took such a good daughter and killed her in your own house?” he said.
What Giribala Singh Alleged?
Navnidhi Sharma’s response came a day after Giribala Singh made a series of allegations related to Twisha’s mental health, alleged drug use, and family background.
She claimed that Twisha had been undergoing psychiatric counselling, consumed “large quantities” of marijuana during pregnancy, and that her parents stayed away for months.
While addressing a press conference on Monday, Singh alleged that Twisha had been undergoing psychiatric counselling and was prescribed medicines “given to a schizophrenic patient”. She further alleged that Twisha consumed “large quantities of marijuana during pregnancy” and showed withdrawal symptoms, including trembling hands.
“She went for psychiatric counselling also, and medicines were prescribed to her, which are given to a schizophrenic patient… She would remain stable for a day or so, but then again, there would be a slight change in her condition. We observed some physical symptoms, a slight trembling in her hands, which is typical of withdrawal symptoms… She destroyed everything…” Singh said while addressing the press.
She also claimed that Twisha had undergone a Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) procedure earlier this month and later regretted it.
The retired judge further accused Twisha’s parents of neglecting their daughter and “earning because of her looks”.
“Twisha’s parents never came to see her during the last five months. They were earning because of her looks and are now not allowing her cremation,” she alleged.
She further claimed that Twisha was pushed into the glamour industry at a young age and later “disowned” by her family. Singh also questioned the professional background of Twisha’s father, who worked in the pharmaceutical industry abroad for several years.
What Is The Case?
Twisha Sharma, a former Miss Pune winner and MBA graduate from Noida, had worked in marketing, modelling and films.
Her family alleges that she faced mental torture and dowry harassment after marriage.
Police have registered a case against her husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the case.
While Giribala Singh has received anticipatory bail, Samarth Singh remains absconding. Police have announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for information leading to his arrest.
Officials said the preliminary post-mortem report points to death by hanging, though Twisha’s family has demanded a second post-mortem at AIIMS Delhi, claiming there are inconsistencies in the investigation.
