Prasidh Krishna led India’s fast-bowling attack in the third ODI against Afghanistan on Saturday (June 20) and picked up five wickets for 23 runs in 8.2 overs. The Karnataka pacer, who replaced Arshdeep Singh in India’s playing XI for the third and final match of the first-ever bilateral ODI series between the two teams, picked up a wicket in each of his first, third, fourth, fifth and ninth overs.
Prasidh opened his wicket tally by dismissing Rahmanullah Gurbaz (5) with his first ball of the match. He then went on to remove Rahmat Shah (5), Ibrahim Zadran (11), Darwish Rasooli (1) and Hashmatullah Shahidi (102).
The five wickets against Afghanistan marked Prasidh’s maiden five-wicket haul in ODI cricket and, in the process, he equalled a unique
record held by Mohammed Shami.
Gurbaz, Zadran, Rahmat, Shahidi and Rasooli were Afghanistan’s top five batters in the third ODI, and by dismissing all of them, Prasidh became only the third Indian bowler to dismiss each of the top five opposition batters in an ODI innings.
