Thousands of influenza infections have been recorded in India with Delhi reporting over 2,400 H1N1 cases and more than 3,100 total Influenza-A cases, Karnataka logging 4,212 confirmed infections, and Kerala noting 7,421 cases along with 88 deaths. Now, actor Emraan Hashmi has also tested positive for H1N1. The actor’s diagnosis was confirmed by his representative, who also shared his medical report as proof.
This comes amish Hashmi’s latest release, Awarapan 2, which continues its successful run in theatres. The film, that released on August 14, has crossed the Rs 200 crore mark at the box office.
According to reports, Emraan Hashmi had been unwell for the past few days and sought medical attention after returning to Mumbai. He subsequently underwent
tests, which confirmed that he had contracted H1N1, or swine flu. The actor has been advised to rest and take the required precautions during his recovery.
Taking to Instagram, Emraan Hashmi had also apologised to his fans for not being able to make it to the Bengaluru show.
“Influenza is not merely a respiratory tract infection. Fever, dehydration, a high heart rate and increased oxygen demand can place significant strain on the heart, particularly in elderly people and those with pre-existing heart problems,” Dr Rohit Goel, Associate Director, Department of Cardiology, Max Hospital, Gurugram, told News18.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Emraan Hashmi’s latest release Awarapan 2 is a huge success at the box office. The film has till now crossed the Rs 200 crore mark. It also stars Disha Patani, Puran Gabbi and Shabana Azmi.
News18 Showsha gave Awarapan 2 three stars out of five and wrote in its review, “Awarapan 2 may not have the cult magic of the first film, but it definitely knows how to entertain. Emraan Hashmi is terrific as Shivam, the action is a total paisa-vasool, and the nostalgia hits at just the right moments. Spoiler alert: the film doesn’t simply wrap everything up and send Shivam home victorious. Instead, the final stretch puts him in a much more vulnerable position, with the relationship between Shivam and Nafisa taking a disturbing turn. After spending the entire film watching Shivam rescue someone, the film leaves him in a position where he himself needs rescuing. It also opens the door very clearly for another sequel.”
