The launch of the Swadesh flagship store in Mumbai on December 5 unfolded as a vibrant tribute to India’s textile legacy. The space resembled a living museum brimming with opulent silks, intricate brocades, weighty artisanal weaves, and feather-light handloom drapes. Guests wandered through the immersive setup, pausing to admire the craftsmanship at every turn. Among the many who attended, Akash Ambani and Shloka Ambani arrived in impeccable style, naturally drawing the spotlight.
Akash and Shloka command attention
Shloka stepped out in a full-length metallic gold ensemble that shimmered with every movement. The high neckline and sculpted bodice carved out an elongated silhouette, while soft, deliberate gathers down the front lent dimension to
the otherwise sleek look. Full sleeves added to the fluid sophistication.
Her beauty choices kept the focus on the outfit, hair pulled back into a long, glossy ponytail and makeup that struck the perfect “fresh yet refined” balance: softly defined eyes, subtle contouring, a touch of highlighter, and a muted lip. Diamond earrings offered just the right hint of sparkle without overpowering the ensemble.
Akash complemented her effortlessly in a dark, intricately woven bandhgala featuring a tapestry-like pattern. The fabric caught the light in a subdued, elegant way. With a clean cut and no superfluous accessories, he let the craftsmanship of the garment take centre stage.

Nita Ambani sets the fashion tone
Before the couple made their entrance, Nita Ambani had already defined the sartorial mood for the evening. She chose a peacock-blue Banarasi saree by Manish Malhotra, a piece rich in depth and heritage. Malhotra later revealed that the saree featured Meena work and was crafted using the traditional kadhua technique, details that anchored the look firmly in the artisanal ethos Swadesh champions. Paired with heirloom jewellery, her appearance felt both regal and deeply rooted in Indian textile tradition.
Bollywood’s finest add glamour
The event also drew a host of Bollywood names, Ananya Panday, Karisma Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, Genelia Deshmukh, Sonam Kapoor, among others each contributing to the celebratory atmosphere with their standout ethnic ensembles.
