Ajay Devgn is all geared up for the release of his upcoming film, Chauhaan. However, the film courted controversy soon after the title announcement video dropped on YouTube on June 25 to commemorate the birthday of legendary action director and Ajay’s father Veeru Devgan. Ajay will be seen as an Army officer in Chauhaan which is set against the backdrop of unrest in Kashmir.
Not everyone was happy with the title announcement video though. Many bashed the makers for depicting Kashmir in a certain way especially the stone pelting scenes. They felt that the film didn’t the sensitive issues well. Kashmir activists joined in the protests and objected to some dialogues.
Well, seems like Ajay Devgn has heard it. The title announcement video has now been
revised post the controversy. You can spot just a few minor but noticeable changes. The makers have replaced the voice of actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub by another actor. Another change includes the military rank of a character been tweaked from ‘Major’ to ‘Colonel’.
According to the rumour mills, Ayyub may no longer be a part of the project now. Notably, this hasn’t been confirmed by the makers or the actor yet.
The teaser has also sparked controversy over dialogues such as, “Pathaanon ko keh do Chauhaan aa raha hai” and “35,000 crore ka investment, uske baad bhi paththar ka jawab nahi.”
You can find the edited version of the title announcement video on YouTube whereas no changes have been made on the social media platforms.
Chauhaan is set against the backdrop of conflict in the region and is said to explore the challenges faced by the Indian Army amid violence, unrest and deep social divisions.

Apart from the teaser, the film’s title has also come under scrutiny. The Kshatriya Parishad, an organisation representing the Rajput community, has objected to the title, alleging that it misuses the community’s name and attempts to politicise Rajput identity. The organisation has accused the makers of using the Chauhan clan name for “contemporary communal politics” and said such attempts were being made for “electoral or ideological purposes.”
In a statement shared on social media, the Kshatriya Parishad strongly condemned what it called attempts to “appropriate” the Chauhan name. The organisation said the Chauhans are a historic Rajput, or Kshatriya, lineage whose legacy belongs to history and not to “partisan campaigns or manufactured media controversies.” Calling the development “deeply unfortunate,” the Parishad said Rajput identity was once again being pulled into a political narrative that Rajputs had neither initiated nor sought.
“At a time when Rajput voices remain underrepresented in mainstream media and public discourse, invoking a Rajput clan name merely to provoke outrage, inflame caste and communal sentiments, or generate political spectacle is both irresponsible and disrespectful,” the organisation said.
Presented by Jio Studios and Colour Yellow, Chauhaan is directed by Neeraj Yadav and produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma. The film is slated to hit theatres on October 1, 2027.
