Redditor Exposes New Dating Scam In Bengaluru, Claims Bar Hire Girls To Lure Customers

A Reddit user has warned about an alleged “dating scam” in Bengaluru, where restaurants and bars hire college girls and work with them in collusion to attract unwary customers who were then made to pay a huge bill that far exceeded the actual value of the items they ordered.

The Redditor claimed that a bar in the metropolis’s Kadubeesanahalli area hires college students to create profiles on dating apps and lure their matches into this bar, “only to stick them with bills worth thousands of rupees.”

The social media user further detailed how one of his friends was conned of thousands of rupees in this scam.

The user said that his friend went on a date with a girl to the bar, where the girl ordered drinks worth Rs 3,000 at least four times. The Redditor said that these restaurants have separate food and drinks menus, which are way too costly, especially prepared for the victims who came on a date there.

“It’s obvious the drinks being ordered are fake, and one of my friends was scammed this way. The girl ordered alcohol worth rupees 3k 4 times and it was not even alcohol. These people have separate food and drinks menu which is way too much costly specially prepared for the victims who came on date there. Please stay alert!” it added.

This scam is not a new one. Social media and Reddit forums are full of accounts from men who were scammed out of their money after meeting women through dating apps. The modus operandi of these scams is simple – the woman insists on meeting the man at a specific restaurant only. Once there, she orders food and, usually, some alcohol, before making some excuse and leaving. The man is then stuck with an inflated bill.
