Shahid Kapoor, who was last seen in Vishal Bhardwaj’s O’Romeo, has some exciting projects in the pipeline. He is gearing up for Cocktail 2, which is set to release on June 19. After that, he is also reportedly set to headline a quirky body-swapping romantic comedy to be directed by Amit Sharma, known for ‘Badhaai Ho’ and ‘Maidaan.’ According to reports, the yet-untitled project has a plot similar to the Italian sci-fi comedy Husband & Wife and promises a mix of humour, emotions and relationship drama.
About Shahid Kapoor’s Next With Amit Sharma
According to Variety India, the film starring Shahid Kapoor revolves around a married couple on the verge of divorce whose lives take an unexpected turn after a scientific experiment goes wrong, causing them to unexpectedly swap bodies. Forced to experience
each other’s daily routines and struggles, the duo gradually develops a deeper understanding of one another. The story is said to combine comedy with emotional depth and family drama.
Kiara Advani And Janhvi Kapoor In Talks For Female Lead
The report suggests that while Shahid Kapoor has officially signed the project, the makers are still finalising the female lead. Variety India reports that producers are currently in discussions with Shahid’s Kabir Singh co-star Kiara Advani, as well as Janhvi Kapoor, for the female lead. If Janhvi comes on board, it will mark her first on-screen collaboration with Shahid.
The upcoming sci-fi comedy is expected to go on floors in late 2026 and is eyeing a theatrical release in mid-2027.
Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor has a busy slate ahead. The actor is currently shooting for season two of Farzi alongside Vijay Sethupathi and Kay Kay Menon. The first season of Farzi was released in 2023, directed by the duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK.
Shahid will also be seen in Cocktail 2 with Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna. The film, directed by Homi Adajania, will release in theatres on June 19, and is one of the most highly-anticipated sequels!
