Following widespread criticism, BJP councillor Renu Chaudhary has apologised for allegedly threatening an African national. The incident occurred while a person of African origin was coaching children at a park in Delhi’s Pratapganj area. In a video that went viral a few days ago, she was seen confronting the football coach, telling him to “learn Hindi within a month or face consequences.”
After the backlash, Chaudhary deleted the original video from her social media account and later posted two new videos on Tuesday, December 23. In one of them, she apologised, saying her words were not intended to hurt anyone, and stated that any necessary facilities for children to play would be provided.

What Did Renu Chaudhary Say To The African Football Coach?
In the viral video, Chaudhary, a Municipal Corporation of Delhi councillor from Patparganj, confronted the football coach of African descent at a park in Mayur Vihar Phase I. She was captured aggressively confronting a group of people inside a public park and speaking loudly in Hindi, questioning why the foreign national has not learnt the language despite staying in India.
“Kyu nahi seekhi Hindi? Agar agle 1 mahine mein Hindi nahi seekhi, isse park cheen lo (Why haven’t you learnt Hindi? If he does not learn Hindi in the next one month, take the park away from him),” she said.
Chaudhary also claimed that she had raised the issue eight months earlier and links language to livelihood, saying, “Yaha ka paisa kha rahe ho toh mu mein bhi Hindi bolna seekho (If you are earning money here, then learn to speak Hindi as well).”
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva responded to the controversy. He said he had watched Chaudhary’s video and felt the language used by the councillor was inappropriate.
