Kurukshetra, May 30 (PTI) A 25-year-old salesman working for a pharmaceutical company allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan inside his rented room in Ladwa town on Saturday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Vikas, a resident of Abupura village in Bareilly district, Uttar Pradesh. He had been living alone in a rented accommodation in Vikas Nagar, Ladwa.
According to the police, Vikas slept on the rooftop of the house on Friday night. When he failed to report for work on Saturday morning and did not respond to repeated phone calls from his colleagues, his coworkers contacted the landlord, Sant Lal, to check on him.
After receiving the request, landlord Sant Lal went to the rooftop but found that Vikas’ room was
locked from the inside.
Unable to open the door, he accessed the room through a neighbour’s rooftop. There, he allegedly discovered Vikas hanging from a ceiling fan with a rope.
Sant Lal immediately informed the police and the company management.
A team from the Ladwa police station arrived at the scene and took the body into custody. A forensic team was also summoned to collect evidence. The body was subsequently sent to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
