Batting superstar Virat Kohli has refused to play Vijay Hazare Trophy for Delhi. According to a report in NDTV on Tuesday (December 2), the 37-year-old right-handed batter from Delhi, who scored a century
for India in the first ODI of ongoing three-match series against South Africa on Sunday (November 30) in Ranchi, has refused to participate in the premier domestic one-day tournament.
The 2025-26 edition of Vijay Hazare Trophy will be played from December 24 to January 18.
“The issue is with the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He (Kohli) simply doesn’t want to play. When Rohit (Sharma) is also playing, how can there be an exception for one player? And what do we tell the other players? That someone is different from all of you?” the source was quoted as saying by NDTV.
While Kohli is unlikely to play for Delhi in the premier domestic 50-over tournament, Rohit Sharma has reportedly made himself available for Mumbai.
