Dhurandhar box office day 2: Ranveer Singh has finally landed the solid opener he needed, and Dhurandhar is proving it with numbers that are rising faster than early trade predictions. The spy thriller
didn’t wait for reviews to stabilise. Instead, strong audience chatter pushed the film into crowd-favourite territory within just 48 hours.
Dhurandhar continued its upward trend on Saturday, turning what began as a good start into a full-blown weekend surge. The film’s early viewers have driven a wave of positive word of mouth, helping shows fill up across key cities. After pulling in a strong Rs 27 crore net on Friday, Dhurandhar showed even healthier growth on day two. Morning occupancy climbed from 15% to 18%, and afternoon shows moved up from 28% to 35%. These jumps contributed to a Rs 31 crore net Saturday, as per Sacnilk.
This brings the two-day domestic total to Rs 58 crore net — an impressive milestone that places the film on track for a massive weekend. Should Dhurandhar maintain its current pace, it may cross Rs 90 crore net by Sunday night.
The film has also delivered the best-ever opening day for a Ranveer Singh-led project, surpassing Simmba and Padmaavat by a comfortable margin. What adds to the win is how quickly Dhurandhar has outperformed some of his past releases. Cirkus, for instance, finished its entire lifetime run at Rs 35.80 crore net. Dhurandhar overtook that number in just two days.
News18 Showsha gave the film 4 stars. An excerpt from the review read, “Dhurandhar is marked with profanity, gore and violence, lots of it, but it only adds more character and even nuance to the narrative. Here, none of it is for cheap thrills. And that’s what makes this film unique and stand out from the host of those that uses savagery as a titillation device. Before we deep dive into what this film entails, let us mention that be prepared for a complex, long, meandering story set against an intricate political and espionage landscape – one that’s based on an incredibly true story but also dramatised for effect.”
Set in Pakistan, Dhurandhar follows an Indian spy who infiltrates the Lyari gangs. Directed by Aditya Dhar and based on true incidents, the story unfolds in the early 2000s. The cast includes Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and R Madhavan, alongside Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi.
