Former Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat Narrowly Escapes Road Accident In Uttar Pradesh

Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat had a narrow escape after his vehicle met with an accident on Saturday. The accident took place near Kankerkheda while he was travelling from Delhi to Dehradun, reported ANI.

Rawat reported no injuries and continued his journey. The officials are trying to ascertain the reason behind the accident and a further probe is underway.

About Harish Rawat

Harish Rawat is a senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, known for his long and influential political career. Born on April 27, 1948, in Almora district, Rawat began his political journey as a student leader and went on to become one of the most prominent faces of the Congress party in the hill state.

He

served as Chief Minister of Uttarakhand from 2014 to 2017, succeeding Vijay Bahuguna. Before that, he held several key positions at both the state and national levels, including Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment and later Minister of Water Resources in the Manmohan Singh government.

Known for his grassroots connect and mass appeal, Rawat has been elected multiple times as Member of Parliament from Almora and Haridwar.
