Kota (Raj) June 5 (PTI) The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Kota, on Friday arrested a contractual employee of the Kota Development Authority (KDA) after catching him red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000, officials said.
Meanwhile, ACB detained another KDA employee for interrogation in connection with the same case, officials said. ACB Director General Govind Gupta said the operation followed a complaint from a resident.
The resident alleged that KDA officials were deliberately delaying the mutation process of his ancestral property in Kota’s Shrinathpuram neighbourhood by repeatedly raising technical objections, he said.
To clear the file and process the legitimate paperwork, KDA employee Jugal Kishore and contractual worker Kapilraj
allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000, officials said.
Investigators confirmed the bribe demands during recorded interactions on June 2 and June 4, laying the groundwork for Friday’s sting operation, officials said.
A team held Kapilraj at the KDA canteen after he accepted marked currency notes worth Rs 15,000 from the victim, they said.
Officials said Kishore was detained from his office desk for interrogation.
“Searches are currently underway at the residences and other locations linked to both accused individuals,” stated ACB inspector general S Parimala, who is supervising the raids.
Officials said a case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigation is underway. PTI CORR ASD ASD
