Manuel Neuer is widely regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time, but during Germany’s 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 32 match against Paraguay at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on Monday (Tuesday IST), he equalled an unwanted record by conceding a goal in his 10th consecutive FIFA World Cup match.
The 40-year-old German goalkeeper, who is playing in his fifth FIFA World Cup, has now conceded at least one goal in each of his last 10 World Cup appearances.

Sweden’s Thomas Ravelli, Belgium’s Jean-Marie Pfaff, Mexico’s Jorge Campos and Hungary’s Gyula Grosics.
‼️ RÉCORD HISTÓRICO ‼️
MANUEL NEUER 🇩🇪 iguala el récord ABSOLUTO de partidos consecutivos recibiendo gol en TODA la historia de la Copa del Mundo:

10 – Antonio Carbajal 🇲🇽 (1950-1962)
9 – Thomas Ravelli 🇸🇪 (1990-1994)
8 – Jean-Marie Pfaff 🇧🇪… pic.twitter.com/AviTHWyHVa— MisterChip (Alexis) (@2010MisterChip) June 29, 2026
Ravelli conceded in nine consecutive FIFA World Cup matches between 1990 and 1994, while Pfaff, Campos and Grosics each conceded in eight consecutive World Cup matches.
Neuer, who made his FIFA World Cup debut for Germany in 2010, is the most-capped goalkeeper in FIFA World Cup history. He was part of the Germany side that finished third at the 2010 FIFA World Cup and went on to win the title in 2014.
Interestingly, Neuer, who is set to retire from international football at the end of Germany’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign, last kept a clean sheet in a World Cup match in the final of the 2014 edition. Germany defeated Argentina 1-0 at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro to lift their fourth FIFA World Cup title.
