48-year-old IT engineer died on Saturday after a car hit him while he was out for a morning walk, police said.
According to the police, the deceased was identified as Virendra Dwivedi.
The incident occurred at around 7.30 am on Pashan-Bavdhan Road. According to news agency PTI, the vehicle was allegedly being driven by a 19-year-old youth.
“Dwivedi was hit by the car while crossing the road. Local people took him to a nearby hospital, but he died during treatment,” an official said.
Police registered a case against the driver, identified as Ishan Sethia (19), under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for ‘causing death by rash and negligent act’ at Chhatushrungi Police Station.
Further investigation is underway.
