Two people died on the spot after their bike collided with a truck in Andhra Pradesh’s Bapatla district in the early hours of Thursday.
The accident took place around 2.30 am at the Clock Tower junction in the district headquarters. CCTV footage from the area shows the two-wheeler approaching at high speed before crashing into the side of the truck, NDTV reported.
According to a report in Hans India, the deceased have been identified as Sheikh Rizwan and Chintala Nani, natives of Koritapadu in Guntur district. The report stated that the youth had visited Suryalanka Beach but were returning home after finding it closed.
The impact of the collision was devastating — the motorcycle was badly damaged, and both riders were thrown onto the road. Passersby
rushed to the scene to check on the victims, who were found lying motionless.
It is learnt that the duo were not wearing helmets at the time of the accident. Both died on the spot due to the force of the impact. Police were probing the circumstances surrounding the incident. The accident once again underscores the deadly consequences of overspeeding and neglecting road safety measures.
