Latur, May 5 (PTI) Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has suspended fuel supply to two petrol pumps in Maharashtra’s Latur district following directives from the District Collector, a company official said.
The action came after videos showing petrol and diesel being sold in cans and barrels at these outlets went viral.
District Collector Dr Bharat Bastewad also received a complaint in this regard.
Acting on the district administration’s directive, HPCL halted fuel supply to the two retail outlets.
A detailed inquiry will soon be conducted and further legal action will be taken as per the company’s Marketing Discipline Guidelines, the official said.
The district administration had earlier issued strict orders prohibiting the sale of petrol
and diesel in loose containers such as jars, cans, or barrels, citing serious safety concerns. PTI COR KRK
