No Existing Or Future FIRs Against Protesters: CJP Makes Fresh Demand, Vows To Continue Agitation

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has placed a new condition before the government, declaring that its ongoing protest will not end unless authorities ensure that no existing or future FIRs are lodged against those participating in the agitation.

Speaking to news agency ANI on Wednesday, CJP national spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said the demand had already been conveyed by the organisation’s leadership and insisted that the movement would continue until the government accepted it.

“We have placed a very clear demand and Abhijeet Dipke had spoken about it. We will not let any kind of FIR or future FIR be lodged against any protester. The protest won’t end without that,” Ranka said.

He asserted that while the protesters were seeking protection from

criminal cases, the movement’s leadership was prepared to face legal action if required.

“As far as our team’s leadership is concerned, we are not scared of any FIR. We are ready to be arrested under UAPA and NSA from day one. Jail is a small price to pay for our fight,” he said.

He maintained that the protest was being conducted peacefully and accused the police of creating confrontation during the July 20 march.

“A narrative is trying to be built that we will not be peaceful, but we are. The march on the 20th was peaceful too, but there was chaos only at the point where police unleashed brutality and beat up students. The youth is sitting here peacefully for 31 days because we follow the principles of Gandhi and Ambedkar,” Ranka said.

The CJP spokesperson also warned that the July 20 demonstration was merely a “trailer” and claimed the agitation could grow significantly if the government failed to respond to the protesters’ demands.

“This is the biggest movement in India’s post-independence history. What happened on the 20th was a trailer. If the Government doesn’t agree, millions more will come to Delhi because this time we will not hold back and stay silent,” he said.

Ranka appealed to political parties across the spectrum to support the agitation, saying the movement welcomed anyone who believed the protesters’ demands were genuine, including members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

DELHI POLICE REGISTER 10 FIRS

Ranka’s remarks came as Delhi Police said it has registered 10 FIRs in connection with incidents linked to the CJP protests in the New Delhi district.

According to police officials, four FIRs have been registered at Parliament Street Police Station, three at Connaught Place Police Station and one each at Mandir Marg, Barakhamba Road and Kartavya Path police stations.

Police said the cases relate to multiple incidents during the demonstrations and investigations are underway.

Officials alleged that protesters displayed “unruly, aggressive and violent behaviour” during Monday’s protest despite repeated warnings and lawful directions to disperse.

According to police, demonstrators violated prohibitory orders in force and obstructed law enforcement personnel.

POLICE PROBE VIOLENCE, DRONE USE

Delhi Police said they are examining more than 250 videos to identify those allegedly involved in violence, stone-pelting and vandalism during the protests.

The FIRs invoke provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, the Arms Act, 1959, and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property (PDPP) Act.

Among the cases is one related to the alleged unauthorised use of a drone in the New Delhi district during the Parliament session.

Another FIR concerns an alleged conspiracy behind the violence, while separate cases pertain to obstruction of government work, assault on police personnel and damage to public property.

The developments come as the student-led agitation continues.

Opposition MPs are also scheduled to protest outside Parliament, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan while raising concerns over alleged irregularities in the NEET UG examination and the police action against students during the July 20 demonstration.
