Jodie Foster recently shared a surprising discovery about artificial intelligence (AI) and its knowledge of movie history. The legendary Hollywood actress revealed that AI is unaware that there was an original Freaky Friday from 1976, before the second part came out with Jamie Lee Curtis. Foster claims that while newer versions of the film are recognised, the first one, featuring her as Annabelle, gets overlooked by AI tools like ChatGPT. She was surprised that AI doesn’t remember this classic movie, even though it was an important part of her early career.
Foster was given a fun challenge during a recent interview where she had to match famous lines from the films. She quickly recognised the line “I wish I could switch places with her,” correctly
from her original, Freaky Friday. The film also featured Barbara Harris as her on-screen mother.
Jodie Foster Says AI Forgot The Original Freaky Friday
In a Variety interview, Jodie Foster said, “You know who forgets that I was the original Annabelle in Freaky Friday is AI. So, if you go on like ChatGPT or any of the things and you say like, ‘Hey, what are the Freaky Friday movies?’ They say there was an original, which is the original with Jamie Lee Curtis and then there’s the second one that just came out and they don’t mention me. AI has no recollection of the 70s. I haven’t seen the brand new one, but I did see the other one and of course I love Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan.”
“It is funny how different it was because it was a different time period and all of that. Jamie and I laugh about that because she’s a very good friend of mine, so we do laugh about how we were in that same movie,” she added.
During the conversation, Jodie Foster also spoke about how acting was never part of her plan. She explained that she entered the entertainment industry by chance when she was very young. Her brother started acting after seeing another child do it and she followed his footsteps. During one audition, she was brought inside only because it was too hot to wait in the car. That moment led to her first ad role.
The Freaky Friday film series began with a children’s book of the same name. It was written by Mary Rodgers and released in 1972.
