RailTel shares in focus after Bihar education projects worth over ₹600 crore cancelled

Shares of RailTel Corporation of India Ltd. will be in focus on Wednesday, January 14, after the company informed the bourses about the cancellation of multiple work orders with a combined value of approximately ₹609.56 crore.

RailTel had earlier received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from the Bihar Education Project Council for the procurement, supply and installation of smart classrooms in government middle schools across Bihar.

The estimated value of this project stood at ₹262.14 crore.

The company has now informed exchanges that the customer has cancelled the work order due to unavoidable reasons.

In addition, RailTel said it has also lost an order worth ₹89.92 crore related to the supply of teaching learning material for Classes I to V in government schools in Bihar following the cancellation.

The company further disclosed that the State Project Director of the Bihar Education Project Council has cancelled another LoA and work order for a separate project valued at ₹257.50 crore.

RailTel Corporation shares ended 0.80% lower on Tuesday at ₹340.80. The stock is down 9% so far in 2026.
