Indian stock market to remain shut for 15 days in 2026; NSE releases annual holiday list

The

National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) has released the list of trading holidays for 2026, confirming that the Indian stock market will remain closed on 15 days next year. The holidays cover key national events and major festivals across the country.

Notably, five holidays fall on Friday, offering long weekends for traders and investors.

In addition, there may be one exceptional trading session on Sunday, February 1, 2026, when Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to present the Union Budget. Budget day trading has historically been conducted even on weekends to facilitate market response to policy announcements.
