Compagnie de Saint-Gobain expects its India business to continue accelerating over the next decade on the back of rising demand for sustainable construction, infrastructure buildout and urbanisation, Chairman & CEO Benoit Bazin said, outlining strong expansion plans for the country.
“In India, we have been basically doubling our size in sales every five years… and we keep investing, not only on capex with new plants, but also on acquisitions,” Bazin told CNBC TV 18 at the sidelines of WEF Davos. The
company currently operates 82 plants in India, generating close to €2 billion in revenue, and ranks as its top five profit centres globally.
Calling the last decade a “fantastic journey”, Bazin said Saint-Gobain has quadrupled its Indian business in the past 10 years, supported by growth in glazing, ceilings, insulation, infrastructure solutions and construction chemicals. “All the boxes are checked — growth, scale and profitability,” he noted.
