The appointment, effective from the date of assumption of charge, is subject to the condition that it will cease on attaining the age of 70 years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
“The Central Government hereby appoints Shri N Venkatram, Country Chair, CDPQ India, CDPQ Global, as Part-Time Member of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), for a period of three years from the date of assumption of charge of the post, or until attaining the age of 70 years, or until further orders, whichever is the earliest,” the notification read.
He has nearly four decades of experience in capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, governance, and strategy.
In March 2024, the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ), a major global investor and one of Canada's largest pension funds, named N Venkatram as Country Chair for CDPQ India.
Before joining CDPQ, he was the CEO and Managing Partner of Deloitte South Asia for eight years, a role he held until his term ended in March 2023. During his mandate in Deloitte, the organisation grew its revenues over 4.5 times. He has an accounting degree and is also a Chartered Accountant.
He also served as a Member of the Global Executive of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu as well as a Member of the Executive of Deloitte AP.
Venkatram has also served on the Securities Exchange Board of India's (SEBI) Mutual Fund Committee and Corporate Governance Committee.
