Indian Overseas Bank Ltd reported its results for Q1 on Monday, July 20. The government-owned lender's shares surged 3.50% after the results were announced.

The Chennai-based lender saw its Net Interest Income (NII) or core income for the quarter grow by 34% from the same quarter last year to ₹3,688 crore from ₹2,747 crore earlier.
Net profit for the June quarter rose to ₹1,659 crore. This marked a 49% rise from the year-ago period, when the number stood at ₹1,111 crore.
Indian Overseas Bank's asset quality improved on a sequential basis, with the bank's Gross NPAs improving to 1.33% from 1.42% in March. In addition, the Net NPAs improved to 0.18% from 0.21% in the previous quarter.
The lender's provisions figure stood at ₹834 crore, compared to ₹1,006 crore in the previous quarter.

When we take a sequential look into the performance of the bank, in Q4 of FY26, the last quarter that ended in March, Indian Overseas Bank saw its Net Interest Income (NII) or core income at ₹3,470 crore.
Net profit for the period stood at ₹1,505 crore. Provisions for the quarter stood at ₹1,005 crore.
Gross NPAs improved to 1.42% from 1.54%, while Net NPAs improved to 0.21% from 0.24% earlier. Furthermore, in absolute numbers, the Gross NPA stood at ₹4,409 crore from ₹4,529 crore in December, while the net NPA improved to ₹637 crore from ₹707 crore earlier.
The company shares have largely traded higher, with the stock price up nearly 1% ahead of its results. The stock reacted to the results and is now up 3.50%. The stock has seen a rise of 1.13% over 6 months and is away from its 52-week high of ₹41.80 at ₹35.03 per share.
