The company has invested around ₹14 crore for the procurement and commissioning of the recycling plant. The investment has been made through internal accruals.
Gravita said the facility will focus on the safe and sustainable recycling of lithium-ion batteries, aimed at reducing environmental impact and conserving critical resources. The company has deployed advanced technology to improve efficiency and scalability in the recycling process, while minimising toxic chemicals and waste.

The lithium-ion battery recycling venture forms part of Gravita’s strategy to promote a circular economy by reusing valuable materials and reducing dependence on mining for raw materials.
Gravita stated that the initiative is aligned with its sustainability objectives and the global transition towards cleaner and more efficient energy solutions. With the growing adoption of electric vehicles, the company aims to establish itself as a participant in the global battery recycling market.
Going forward, Gravita plans to expand the scope of its recycling operations and collaborate with players in the electric vehicle and renewable energy sectors to strengthen its recycling capabilities.
Shares of Gravita India Limited ended at ₹1,554.85, up by ₹38.35, or 2.53%, on the BSE.
