What is the story about?
State-owned Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) on Friday (January 16) announced that it has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for a contract from South Eastern Railway.
The order, valued at ₹87.56 crore excluding GST, is for the supply, installation, and commissioning of an IP-based Video Surveillance System (VSS) in LHB coaches.
The system includes four cameras per coach, rugged hand-held terminals or tablets, and 8 TB external SSDs, in line with RDSO Specification. The contract, awarded through a domestic e-tender, is to be executed over 10 months from the date of issue of the purchase order.

The work falls under RVNL’s normal course of business, and there is no involvement of related parties or promoter group interest in the order.
Last month, Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd said it had emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for a project awarded by East Coast Railway.
The project involves the setting up of a wagon periodical overhaul (POH) workshop with a capacity of 200 wagons at Kantabanji. East Coast Railway is the entity awarding the contract.
The total project cost, excluding goods and services tax, is ₹201,23 crore. The contract has been awarded to Rail Vikas Nigam as the sole bidder. The time period for completion of the project is 18 months.

Shares of Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd ended at ₹335.30, down by ₹0.90, or 3.05%, on the BSE.
