What is the story about?
Swiggy and Hero MotoCorp have entered into a partnership that will make it easier for the food-delivery and quick-commerce company's delivery partners to buy two-wheelers while also providing them with road-safety training.
Under the partnership, delivery partners working with Swiggy's Food Marketplace and Instamart will be able to choose a Hero MotoCorp model through the Swiggy app and get exclusive pricing at Hero dealerships.
They will also have access to customised financing options covering as much as 90% of the vehicle's value, along with what the companies described as competitive interest rates. The companies didn't disclose the discounts or interest rates being offered.
Road-safety training for delivery partners
The partnership will also provide road-safety training to Swiggy delivery partners across India under Hero MotoCorp's Ride Safe India corporate social responsibility initiative.
The programme will combine digital lessons with instructor-led practical training covering hazard anticipation, safe-riding practices, traffic rules and emergency response.
Hero MotoCorp and Swiggy marked the partnership with a training session for delivery partners at the automaker's Traffic Training Park in Gurugram.
Participants received a kit containing a full-face helmet, medical kit, reflective safety vest and training certificate.
Saurav Goyal, Chief Operating Officer of Swiggy's Food Marketplace, said the partnership would make vehicle ownership more accessible to delivery partners through special pricing, financing options and a simpler purchase process.
Ashutosh Varma, Chief Business Officer at Hero MotoCorp, said the partnership was aimed at improving access to affordable mobility while incorporating road safety into the programme.
Swiggy has more than 6.5 lakh delivery partners
Swiggy works with more than 6.5 lakh delivery partners and 2.7 lakh restaurants across more than 720 cities, while its Instamart quick-commerce business operates in 131 cities.
That gives Hero MotoCorp access to a large pool of potential two-wheeler buyers whose work depends heavily on personal mobility, while Swiggy's delivery partners get a dedicated route to vehicle financing and purchase.
The companies didn't disclose any financial terms for the partnership or specify how many delivery partners they expect to participate.
