What is the story about?
JioHotstar has increased its annual subscription prices for new users, with the Premium plan now priced at ₹2,199, up from ₹1,499, effective from January 28. Alongside the price hike, JioHotstar has introduced monthly subscription plans across all tiers, Mobile, Super and Premium, starting at ₹79 per month, giving users more flexibility in how they pay for the service.
The platform has also reworked content bundling, with Hollywood entertainment now included in the Super and Premium tiers for new subscribers, while Mobile users can continue to access Hollywood content via a paid add-on.

The company, however, clarified that existing subscribers will continue on their current plans and prices to avoid disruption, provided their auto-renewal remains active.

The company said the pricing changes reflect a sharp rise in connected-TV and large-screen viewing, which has grown rapidly over the past 11 months since launch.
JioHotstar said the updated pricing framework is aimed at supporting continued investments in premium content, live sports and technology, as the platform scales beyond 450 million monthly active users and over one billion downloads on Google Play.
