Non-banking finance company Poonawalla Fincorp Ltd is likely to launch a qualified institutional placement (QIP) to raise funds of up to ₹5,000 crore, according to sources close to the development.
The proposed issue is expected to include both a base issue and an upsized option. The base size is likely to be around ₹2,500 crore, with an additional upsize option of up to ₹2,500 crore, said people familiar with the matter.
Sources said the equity dilution from the proposed fundraise could be up to 15%. The issue is likely to be priced at a small discount to the current market price, they added.

The funds raised through the QIP are expected to be used for growth purposes. Kotak and Jefferies have been appointed as bankers to the deal, sources added. The fundraise is likely to take place later this week or early next week.

This week, Poonawalla Fincorp reported its assets under management (AUM) at approximately ₹60,325 crore as of March 31, 2026, according to a provisional business update filed with exchanges on Monday, April 6.

The non-banking financial company (NBFC) also said it maintained ample liquidity of around ₹7,550 crore at the end of the March quarter, as it continues to scale its lending operations.
The company reiterated its 'risk-first approach,' supported by robust risk management systems and a diversified asset base. It added that its growth strategy remains focused on expanding the business while building a sustainable and profitable long-term model.
Shares of Poonawalla Fincorp Ltd ended at ₹414.80, up by ₹10.90, or 2.70%, on the BSE today, April 8.
