Shares of Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd., fell as much as 8% on Tuesday, January 20, after a large transaction that took place in the stock.
As many as 4.35 crore shares, amounting to 3.57% of the company's outstanding equity, changed hands in the large transaction. The shares changed hands at an average price of ₹66.4 apiece, taking the total transaction value to ₹289 crore.
For Aditya Birla Lifestyle Brands, 2.8% of the company's outstanding equity changed hands in the large trade.
Buyers and sellers in the transaction are undisclosed. The deal in the demerged entity is yet to take place.
On Monday, January 19, CNBC-TV18 had reported, citing sources, that block deals were likely to take place in the two Aditya Birla Group companies. It remains undisclosed as to who intends to sell stake in these transactions.
In Aditya Birla Lifestyle Brands Ltd., an institutional investor was set to sell up to 3% equity via a block deal worth $43 million. Floor price of the transaction was fixed at ₹106.14 apiece, sources said. The transaction is expected to be a clean out trade, sources added.
At the end of the September quarter, one of the promoter groups Pilani Investment and Industries held 3.67% in the company, while SBI Life Insurance Co. Ltd. held 2.25% stake in the firm.
Separately, in Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd., an undisclosed institutional investor was set to offload up to 3% stake via a block deal for $32 million at a floor price of ₹65.78 apiece, as per sources. This transaction too, is said to be a clean out trade, sources added.
At the end of the September quarter, foreign portfolio investor Theleme India Master Fund Ltd. held 2.45% stake in the firm.
In October 2025 , Flipkart Investments Pvt. Ltd. sold 6% stake in Aditya Birla Lifestyle Brands Ltd. for around ₹998 crore via a block deal. The shares were sold at an average price of ₹136.45 apiece.
Shares of Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail are trading 6.9% lower on at ₹66.97, after the deal.
