Paytm injects ₹2,250 cr into payments arm PPSL via rights issue

One 97 Communications Ltd, the parent company of Paytm, on Friday (December 12) said it has completed an additional investment of ₹2,250 crore in its wholly-owned subsidiary Paytm Payments Services Ltd (PPSL).

The infusion, executed on December 12, 2025, was made through a subscription to PPSL’s rights issue of equity shares, the company said in a regulatory filing.

New privacy tool launched

Last month, Paytm introduced a new in-app privacy feature called ‘Hide Payments,’ enabling users to move selected

UPI transactions out of the main history view. The hidden transactions remain intact within a secured section of the app and can be accessed only after PIN or biometric verification.

The company said the feature was developed in response to user demand for greater discretion, particularly for those who share devices with family members or colleagues. Paytm added that it is currently the only UPI app offering such a capability.

Q2 results

Paytm reported a net profit of ₹211 crore for the quarter ended September 2025 (Q2FY26) before a one-time charge. After fully impairing a ₹190 crore loan to its joint venture, First Games Technology Pvt Ltd, the company’s reported PAT stood at ₹21 crore.

Operating revenue rose 24% year-on-year at ₹2,061 crore, supported by an increase in subscription-paying merchants, higher payments GMV, and growth in financial services distribution.

EBITDA climbed to ₹142 crore, improving the margin to 7%, aided by operating leverage and sustained revenue momentum.

Shares of One 97 Communications Ltd ended higher on Friday, December 12, by 2.48% at ₹1,312.20 on the NSE.
