The AM Green India Golf Premier League (IGPL) had announced the full squads for all 10 franchises at a launch event in New Delhi, marking a key step in the rollout of India’s first team-based professional golf league.
The squads were unveiled by IGPL Co-Founder Yuvraj Singh and CEO Uttam Singh Mundy, as the league set the tone for its inaugural season with a format designed to blend individual excellence with team competition.
Yuvraj Singh threw his weight behind the format innovation, stressing on its
potential to make the sport more engaging.
“The team component will make the game exciting with its fast pace. I am thrilled by the plans to grow the game, which holds so much potential,” he said.
The announcement also drew strong backing from the government, with Union Minister for Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat highlighting IGPL’s commitment to mobilise $2 billion towards golf tourism infrastructure.
“The Indian Golf Premier League’s pledge to bring $2 billion of investment into golf tourism infrastructure is not merely a sporting initiative, it is a strategic contribution to Brand India. Nations like Mauritius, Vietnam, and South Africa have demonstrated how golf can transform landscapes into internationally coveted destinations, attracting high-net-worth visitors and year-round tourism revenue. IGPL is now positioning India to lead that story in Asia,” the minister said, adding, “Prime Minister Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 demands that we build infrastructure that attracts global capital and creates enduring employment.”
The IGPL’s inaugural season will feature 15 events through 2026, including 10 across franchise home bases in India and five international stops, with Mauritius, South Africa and Congo among the initial venues.
Each franchise will field four players, competing for an individual prize pool of ₹1.5 crore per event while also contributing to team standings, with the top two scores per team counted each day. Points accumulated across the season will determine the top three teams.

IGPL CEO Mundy highlighted the league’s ambition of creating pathways for Indian golfers on the global stage. “We are hosting 15 events spread out over the year. The periods between IGPL events will allow our players to compete in international events on the International Series, Asian Tour, and other global Tours. Our goal is to see them reach the highest levels, including the International Series and the LIV Golf League,” he said.
Mundy also touched upon the league’s focus on expanding the sport’s base in India.
"We will enhance the golf ecosystem by increasing the number of golf courses and driving ranges to make the sport accessible to all. Our ‘Golf on Wheels’ programme will see large vehicles equipped with gear and coaches visiting schools to promote the game at the grassroots level," he said.
