Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), has issued a stop-work notice to the bullet train construction site at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) for violating anti-pollution guidelines. In addition, BMC has issued a show-cause notice to the Metro Line 2B construction site at BKC.
BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani confirmed the action to CNBC-TV18, saying, “BMC has issued a show-cause notice to the Metro 2B line construction site at BKC and a stop-work notice to the bullet train construction site at BKC.”
Indian-origin US official Ricky Gill receives NSC honour for role during India-Pakistan ceasefire
Indian-origin US official Ricky Gill has received the National Security Council’s Distinguished Action Award for his role in ceasefire negotiations between India and Pakistan this year. The award was presented by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, according to a confirmed official citation.
Gill currently serves as Special Assistant to the US President and Senior Director for South and Central Asia at the National Security Council (NSC).
US officials said the recognition was for Gill’s contribution to internal coordination and diplomatic outreach.

As many as 55% of the companies that raised funds through the Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) route in 2025 are trading below the price at which they issued shares to eligible institutions, according to the latest study by Motilal Oswal.
After a record year in 2024, when companies raised ₹1.36 lakh crore through the QIP route, the figure has seen a dip this year, with ₹71,800 crore being mobilised by 35 companies, according to the study.

Who was Shivank Avasthi, Indian student shot dead near University of Toronto
A 20-year-old Indian student was shot dead near the University of Toronto Scarborough campus, prompting a homicide investigation. Toronto police confirmed that Shivank Avasthi's death marked the city’s 41st homicide of 2025.
Officers were called to the area of Highland Creek Trail and Old Kingston Road at approximately 3:30 p.m. after reports of ‘unknown trouble,’ the Toronto Police Service said in a statement. When officers arrived, they found a male victim with a gunshot wound on a paved trail running through a wooded section near the campus perimeter. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
