Shares of Granules India Ltd. gained on Tuesday, July 21, after the Hyderabad-based drugmaker reported its results for the first quarter of FY27. The numbers were higher on a year-on-year basis across parameters.
The pharma company's Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortisation (EBITDA) for the June quarter rose by 37.4% from the same quarter last year to ₹339 crore from ₹246.5 crore during the same quarter last year.
The EBITDA margin expanded by over 300 basis points to 23% from 20.3% in the year-ago period.
Granules India's net profit for the period increased by 60% year-on-year to ₹180 crore from ₹112.60 crore. Revenue grew 22% to ₹1,476 crore from ₹1,210 crore during Q1 of FY26.
To get a sequential understanding, when we look at the numbers from the previous quarter, the company's Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortisation (EBITDA) for the quarter increased by 39.6% from the year-ago quarter. EBITDA margin stood at 23.9%. Net profit for the period increased by 32.6%, while revenue also grew by 23%.
During the quarter, the company received an aggregate of ₹365.6 crore on February 23, which is 25% of the total consideration of the warrants. The 2.5 crore convertible warrants were issued at ₹585 apiece and each warrant gives holder the right to buy one equity share, which can be converted within 18 months of allotment. The last date to convert these warrants is August 2027.
Previously, in early June of 2026, the company shares rose after it received an Establishment Inspection Report (EIR) from the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) for its facility in Chantilly, Virginia.
Shares of Granules India are trading 1.4% higher on Tuesday at ₹888.5 after the results announcement. The stock has gained 44% so far this year and is up close to 80% over the last 12 months.
