Trading, which usually begins at 9 AM on MCX, was first delayed to 9:30 AM, and then subsequently pushed to 9:45 and 10 AM. After the 10:30 AM trading resumption update, the timing was removed, and an update at 11:05 AM stated:
"The commencement of trading is delayed due to a technical issue. Trading will start from DR site. The time of commencement of trading will be informed to market participants. Inconvenience is regretted," the statement on MCX's website said.
It was earlier mentioned that trading will begin from the disaster recovery platform. There has been no official comment from MCX on the reasons behind the technical glitch.
MCX is the country's largest derivative exchange first faced a technical issue on July 23, where technical issues had halted trading commencement for an hour.
A prior delay was faced on July 23 last year, where trading had resumed at 10 AM after a one hour delay.
A regular session on the MCX starts at 9 AM and goes on till 11:30 PM from Monday to Friday. The trading session is divided into two parts - morning and evening. The morning session goes on till 5 PM, post which, it is the evening session.
Shares of MCX are currently trading 2% lower at ₹9,121. The stock trades below its 52-week low of ₹9,317.
