What is the story about?
Container Corporation of India Ltd
(CONCOR) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Bharat Mumbai Container Terminals Pvt Ltd (PSA Mumbai) to strengthen rail-based movement of domestic, cabotage and customs-cleared EXIM cargo.
The agreement aims to leverage the infrastructure and operational capabilities of both entities to enable seamless connectivity between PSA Mumbai and CONCOR’s network of Inland Container Depots and domestic terminals across the country.
The MoU was signed on 15 May 2026 in New Delhi in the presence of CONCOR CMD Sanjay Swarup and PSA International’s Regional CEO Vincent Ng, along with senior officials from both organisations.
Under the collaboration, the two companies will facilitate movement of containers through rail services between PSA Mumbai and CONCOR terminals. The arrangement also focuses on optimal utilisation of yard space and rail handling infrastructure at PSA Mumbai for aggregation, staging and evacuation of cargo.
The partnership is expected to enhance logistics efficiency by promoting rail evacuation, reducing road congestion, improving turnaround time and enabling cost-efficient cargo movement.
Additionally, the companies plan to operate scheduled container train services between PSA Mumbai and CONCOR terminals, subject to operational feasibility and regulatory approvals.
The MoU also includes exploring the feasibility of a broader strategic alliance for mutually beneficial logistics and terminal-related activities.
The collaboration is expected to strengthen multimodal logistics connectivity and support efficient cargo movement between ports and hinterland locations across India.
